Repower of south west mussel farm vessel.
Project | Watermota was approached by the vessel owner to produce a twin-engine propulsion package. |
Details | We were contacted by the vessel owners to design a propulsion package to replace a pair of ageing Volvo engines that were becoming problematic for the customer. This offers an additional 12v alternator to support the vessels existing 12v electrical system, engine side rails for mounting a pair of JMP 2” clutched deck wash pumps which are driven from each main engine. Following a visit form the customer to finalise the package details, we were then asked to produce an offer for a package to operate the vessels extensive hydraulics system. This was to be seperate from the main engines to reduce run time of the main engines, when the hydraulics where needed, for when the vessel was moored in harbour. Watermota was able to offer this from the same 8 litre engine class and a design was taken by the customer for a frame mounted set ready for the customer to install. The matching of the engine class has enabled the operator to streamline the on board and servicing spares items and reduce the costs associated when changing engine brands. |
