Watermota support to grow facilities at South Devon College Marine Academy

Working in partnership with South Devon Marine Academy, we are excited to introduce our apprentice, Zak, who has joined our service department.
South Devon College Marine Academy is based at Premier Marina’s new £75 million development of Noss-on-Dart Marina on the banks of the River Dart. From these new premises, the Academy will continue to build its reputation as a maritime centre of excellence.
The Academy is an approved training centre for The Royal Yachting Association (RYA), full members of British Marine and The Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL), and an accredited centre for City & Guilds, EAL Awards, and the University of Plymouth.
The College works in partnership with Princess Yachts to deliver a range of apprenticeship opportunities. The partnership has also provided a dedicated workshop that houses one of Princess’ V40 hulls, allowing students to learn in the classroom using real-world products, techniques, and application of theory.
Facilities Include:
- Rigid Hulled Inflatable Boats (RIBs)
- Displacement vessels
- RS performance dinghies
- Marine engineering workshop
- Marine engineering diagnostic workshop
- Composites research and development suite
- CAD suite with MaxSurf and Autodesk Inventor software
- Laser cutter, CNC machine and 3D printers
- Prototyping suite
- Shore based navigation and VHF training facility
