We wanted to take a moment to share something that does not always make it into the technical bulletins and product updates, what is happening with Watermota as a business, and what it means for the people and organisations we work with.
The short version: we are in a strong position, we are growing, and we are investing that growth directly back into the things that matter most to our customers, stock levels, technical capability, response times, and the depth of support we can offer across the UK.
A Business Built on Long-Term Relationships
Watermota has been supplying the commercial marine industry since 1911. That is not a number we use for marketing purposes, it is a genuine reflection of how this business operates. We are not a catalogue operation. We are a team of people who know our products, know our customers, and understand the environments in which they work.
That foundation has allowed us to grow steadily and deliberately over the years. We have taken on new partnerships and product lines when we were confident they met the standards our customers expect, not simply because an opportunity existed. The same principle applies to how we are growing now.
We have always believed that the right way to grow is to get better, not just bigger. That means investing in people, stock, and capability, and making sure every part of the business can keep pace.
What This Means for Our Customers
The most immediate benefit of our growth is increased stock availability. We have expanded our stockholding across a number of key product lines, which means shorter lead times for customers and dealers, and greater resilience when demand spikes, as it has done with Tier III engine enquiries in recent months.
We have also been investing in our team. The knowledge and experience our staff carry is, genuinely, one of the things our customers tell us they value most. The ability to pick up the phone and speak to someone who understands the application, knows the product range, and can make a decision, that is not something we want to lose as we get larger. We are hiring carefully, and making sure new team members are trained to the same standard our existing customers are used to.
The Dealer Network
Part of our growth story is the continued development of our UK dealer network. We have Hyundai-trained dealers operating across the country, which means more vessel owners and operators can access local expertise and support. The dealer map on our website is kept up to date and is always worth checking if you need support in a specific region.
For dealers themselves, our growth means better stock availability, faster response times on technical queries, and more support materials, including the case studies, technical guidance, and training sessions we are developing as part of our Tier III readiness programme.
Looking Ahead
The commercial marine industry is going through a period of significant change. Emissions regulations, the transition to electronic engine management, and the increasing complexity of modern vessel systems all place new demands on suppliers. We want to be the kind of business that helps its customers navigate that change, not one that simply reacts to it.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of Watermota’s growth over the years. Whether you are a long-standing dealer, a vessel owner on your third repower, or someone who has just placed their first order with us, we appreciate your business and your trust.
