First Doosan Powered Cleopatra Fisherman 33 Dublin Skipper Bobby Creedon new fast potter Kaligarian J is the first Cleopatra Fisherman 33 boat to be fitted with a Doosan engine. The LO86TIM unit was supplied by Watermota Ltd. of Newton Abbot, Devon, which last year were appointed as UK agents for Trefjar Ltd. the Icelandic builders of the Cleopatra range of fast boats. After successfully completing sea trials in Iceland when a top speed of 22 knots was recorded, Kaligarian J was shipped to Immingham before being transported by road to Holyhead last Wednesday and lifted into the water for the delivery trip across the Irish Sea. Developing 232kW @ 2300rpm, the Doosan turbo charged and intercooled 8.1 litre propulsion unit is coupled to a ZF 302V-LD 15 deg Vee drive reversing gearbox with 1.657:1 reduction ratio. Kilgarian J is expected to fish whelk pots for most of the year, with some diversification into brown crab. Potting gear will be retrieved by a 17in Hydroslave hauler. The 8.5m3 fish hold is designed to take 63 standard fish boxes. Barry Electronics Ltd. of Killybegs supplied the Furuno and Simrad electronic equipment fitted in the wheelhouse of Kaligarian J.
